In the temples of Demeter and Artemis, the priestesses were known as the Melissae — the bees. They tended hives as sacred practice. Honey was an offering to the gods. The hum of the colony was understood as prayer.
This reverence continued through the centuries — from the Egyptians who carved bees into the tombs of pharaohs, to the Benedictine monks who kept hives and brewed mead, to the folk traditions that whispered news to the bees and draped their hives in mourning cloth.
The Sister Circle honours this unbroken thread. We offer a return to working with bees as a spiritual practice — not as agriculture, but as communion.
